Theresa Burkard was born in Germany and studied Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ). She graduated with a Swiss Federal Pharmacist Diploma in 2012. In 2012, she was the president of the Swiss Pharmaceutical Student Association (asep) and the chairperson of the organising committee of an international student congress for health profession students in Lausanne in 2013 (World Healthcare Student Symposium). After her studies, she worked in different community pharmacies including an ad-interim executive position in a pharmacy specialised in haemophilia and immunodeficiency products for home delivery. In December 2015, she joined the Basel Pharmacoepidemiology Unit and her PhD thesis will be on the topic of the association between different systemic exposures and osteoarthritis.
