Eliane Garo joined the research group in August 2013 coming from industry where she held different positions in natural product drug discovery.

She graduated as pharmacist in 1994 at the University of Lausanne and obtained a PhD in 1999 at the Institute of Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry under the supervision of Prof. K. Hostettmann.  She was then a postdoctoral fellow with Prof. W. Fenical at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in San Diego (USA) working on marine natural products.

In 2003, she pursued her career in industry at Sequoia Sciences (San Diego, CA and St Louis, MO).  After moving back to Switzerland, she joined the contract research organization BioFocus (Basel) in 2009 as a principal scientist and worked in drug discovery of natural products from microbial source.
