Manuel Haschke graduated from Medical School, University of Zurich, Switzerland in 1995. From 1995 to 2003 he obtained clinical training in internal medicine and clinical pharmacology & toxicology at the University Hospital Basel, Switzerland. In 2003 he received an international research grant and continued his training in Bioanalytics / Mass Spectrometry and Metabonomics at the Department of Clinical Research and Development, University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Denver, CO, USA. In 2005 he returned to the Department of Clinical Pharmacology & Toxicology, University Hospital Basel as senior physician and is now head of the Phase I Research Unit (PRU), a specialized phase I clinical trial unit, and the analytical mass spectrometry and biomarker unit. He is further responsible for the therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) service and holds lectures in clinical pharmacology at the medical school, the school of dentistry and the school of pharmacy, University of Basel. His scientific interests are drug metabolism/phenotyping, drug toxicity and biomarkers (e.g. endogenous oxidative stress markers such as isoprostanes).
