Selene obtained her Bachelor in Biology at the University of Zürich in 2011. She graduated in Human Biology in the laboratory of Prof. François Verrey under the supervision of Dr. Simone M.R. Camargo at the Institute of Physiology, University of Zurich, in 2013. In her Master thesis she explored the pathway and effects of L-glutamate secretion in the pancreatic juice, an amino acid whose altered secretion is observed during pancreatitis and under different protein diets. Form 2013 - 2014 she worked in the field of occupational toxicology at Novartis, Basel, performing risk assessment, and improving of testing strategies for pharmaceutical intermediates under the supervision of Dr. Ester Lovsin Barle. In December 2014 she started her PhD in the group of Molecular and Systems Toxicology at the University of Basel.
