We are delighted to congratulate Prof. em. Matthias Hamburger, Professor Emeritus at the University of Basel and former President of the Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research (GA), on receiving the prestigious Norman R. Farnsworth  Research Achievement Award (2026) from The American Society of Pharmacognosy (ASP) during the ASP2026 in Denver. The Norman R. Farnsworth Research Achievement Award recognizes ASP members who have made outstanding contributions to natural products research, honoring scientific excellence in pharmacognosy and celebrating the legacy of one of the field's most influential pioneers.

Throughout his distinguished career, Prof. Hamburger has made pioneering contributions to pharmacognosy, phytochemistry, natural products chemistry, and analytical approaches to medicinal plant research. His work has significantly advanced the discovery, characterization, and quality assessment of bioactive natural products and has inspired generations of researchers worldwide. As a former GA President, Prof. Hamburger has also played a pivotal role in strengthening the international natural products community and promoting excellence in medicinal plant research.
