Curriculum Vitae
Dr. Carla Meyer-Massetti studied Pharmacy in Basel and graduated in 2001. She obtained her specialization in hospital pharmacy (FPH) in 2006.
In 2011, she completed a joint PhD thesis in medication safety at the University of California San Francisco, Department of Clinical Pharmacy (Prof. B. Joseph Guglielmo) and the University of Basel, Department of Clinical Pharmacy & Epidemiology (Prof. Dr. Christoph Meier).
Returning to Switzerland, she joined the Swiss Patient Safety Foundation as a medication safety specialist. Subsequently, she worked as a medication safety pharmacist at the Cantonal Hospital of Lucerne, followed by a position as a project leader in the Department of Quality Management and Patient Safety at the University Hospital of Zürich.
From 2016 until 2020, she was responsible for the research project “doMESTIC 2016-2020 - Study of Medication Safety in Home Care”.
As a research associate in the group of Prof. Christoph Meier, her research focuses on medication safety during transition of care and medication literacy with a special interest in establishing new pharmaceutical models of care in home care, hospice care/palliative care and nursing homes. She supervises various Master theses in the Division of Clinical Pharmacy & Epidemiology at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and she teaches medication safety-related topics in various settings.
