Jennifer Alexa studied pharmacy at the University of Greifswald in Germany. She was a visiting researcher in the Clinical Pharmacy group of Prof. Alesha Smith at the University of Otago in New Zealand, where she worked on her Diploma thesis project (Dipl. Pharm.) After obtaining her practicing license as a pharmacist (Approbation) in 2017 in Germany, she worked in community pharmacies in Berlin. Meanwhile, she published the first edition of her book “Pharmacy Consultation Guide” in 2019 and the second edition in 2024 in cooperation with the W. Kohlhammer GmbH publishing house.         
In 2020, Jennifer joined the Clinical Pharmacy group of Prof. Thilo Bertsche at Leipzig University as a doctoral student in the research area of evidence-based pharmacy. She simultaneously pursued a three year training to become a specialist pharmacist for drug information (Fachapothekerin für Arzneimittelinformation), which she completed in 2023. During her doctoral studies she also composed content for the EVInews project, which is an evidence-based self-medication–related information platform for community pharmacists in Germany and is funded by the Federal Union of German Associations of Pharmacists (ABDA) as well as the AVOXA—Media Group German Pharmacists GmbH.
After completing her doctoral degree (Dr. rer. nat.), she joined the Pharmaceutical Care Research Group of Prof. Samuel Allemann as a postdoctoral researcher in 2024. She is now engaged in various projects and her research interests include evidence-based pharmacy as well as travel medicine.
