Nikolaos is a summa cum laude graduate of the Department of Food Technology of the University of West Attica, Greece and completed his M.Sc degree in Pharmaceutical Analysis & Quality Control at the National Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece in 2020 (at the lab of Prof. Eirini Panderi). His master’s thesis focused on the analysis of parabens in human breast milk. During his Master’s degree studies, Nikolaos has also been trained in the analysis of prohibited substances by LC-QTOF-MS at the laboratory of Doping Control, OAKA in Athens. Shortly after his graduation, he worked as a quality control analyst in pharmaceutical industry at Pharos LTD, Malta where he performed routine testing to assess the conformance of raw materials and finished products, to predetermined specifications according to current EP/USP monograph methods. In 2021, he joined the Pharmacology Lab at the Biomedical Research Foundation Academy of Athens, Greece working under Dr. Constantin Tamvakopoulos’s supervision as a research associate. During his stay, Nikolaos was involved in in vitro and in vivo studies on the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of Trastuzumab. One of the achievements was the development of a bioanalytical tool for determination of levels of monoclonal antibodies in biological samples that can be employed in the framework of Therapeutic Drug Monitoring.

In April 2023, Nikolaos joined the Biopharmacy group for his PhD studies, where he is going to focus on mechanistic studies on the interplay of the drug transporter OATP2B1 with cytochrome P450 enzymes.
