Samuel Waldner graduated at the University of Basel as a Master in Pharmacy and obtained his federal diploma as a pharmacist in 2018.

He conducted his master thesis on in silico modeling of cytochrome P450 2D6, evaluating the docking performance of the Schrödinger Suite with human CYP2D6 in the group of PD Dr. Martin Smiesko at the University of Basel. He worked in a community pharmacy for half a year before joining the Pharmaceutical Technology research group of Prof. Dr. J. Huwyler as a PhD student in June of 2019. His work focuses on microparticle based formulations.
