Schnupper Winter School 2025

[Translate to English:] Winter Schnupper School 2025

As part of this year's “Schnupper Winter School”, high school graduates from the region had the opportunity to gain an insight into our department's research. One highlight was the workshop “Medicines, illegal drugs, stimulants - the role of natural substances in human life”. Here, the students were able to experience the isolation of alkaloid natural substances at first hand using the example of the ubiquitous caffeine from tea and coffee. After an introduction to the topic by Robin Teufel, the participants put what they had learned directly into practice under the guidance of Eliane Garo: They independently purified caffeine from tea bags in several steps and learned about proven basic techniques that are still used today in drug preparation.
