Tzu-Ya obtained her M.Sc. in Drug Sciences from the University of Basel, where she completed her master studies with a master thesis project in the Biopharmacy group. In collaboration with the Pharmaceutical Biology group, her project focused on establishing a natural product discovery pipeline to identify potential antidotes against amatoxin toxicity. Specifically, she screened and investigated extracts from an in-house library for their ability to inhibit OATP1B3-mediated cellular uptake, which plays a key role in amatoxin-induced liver toxicity.
In August 2025, she started her PhD studies in the Biopharmacy group. Her doctoral research focuses on investigating hepatic OATP1B transporters and their role in drug-drug and drug-gene interactions.
