Bea graduated from the Technical University of Munich with a Master’s degree in biochemistry in 2023. In her final year of study, she worked in the lab of Christian Haass at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, where she wrote her Master thesis on the phenotypic characterization and modulation of a hiPSC-derived model for frontotemporal dementia.

After a 12-months internship in the neuroscience and rare diseases (NRD) research department of Roche in Basel, Bea continued her work at Roche’s NRD neural signalling section in the group of Dr. Senthilvelrajan Kaniyappan as a PhD candidate. She started her PhD in 2024 with the University Psychiatric Clinics Basel under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Anne Eckert and in collaboration with the group of Molecular & Systems Toxicology under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Alex Odermatt. Her work focuses on the identification and characterization of the modulators of mitochondrial metabolism in tauopathies.
