Sophie Werner graduated from the University of Basel with a Master in Drug Sciences in December 2020. She carried out her Master thesis in collaboration with Novartis Basel, where she developed an in vitro assay to determine intracellular drug concentrations and permeability.

Within her Masters, she joined Roche Kaiseraugst for a student internship in the field of drug production in 2019.

In May 2021 she joined Prof. Dr. Huwyler’s research group as an external PhD student working at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW) in Muttenz. Her research is focusing on the assessment of liver metabolism and neurotoxicity of solvents using 3D in vitro models.
