Curriculum Vitae
Rianne van Diest completed her Bachelor's degree in Chemistry at the University of Amsterdam and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 2020. Afterwards, she pursued her Master's degree in Chemistry at the same institutions, graduating cum laude in 2023. During her studies, she worked on multiple research projects in the fields of organic chemistry, spectroscopy, and computational chemistry. She performed her Master’s thesis in collaboration with the Leiden University Medical Center and their spinoff company VarmX. This project focussed on in silico engineering of blood coagulation factor Xa as an antidote for anticoagulant treatment. After completing her Master’s degree, Rianne joined VarmX as a researcher to continue the in silico research on blood coagulation proteins. In April 2024 she started as a Ph.D. student in the Computational Pharmacy group under supervision of Prof. Dr. Martin Smiesko. Her research focusses on the in silico identification of xenobiotics that alter steroid action.
